Site Requirements DB Power systems are designed to operate at 35 to 40 degrees C. As the system design being trivialized for normal operation, special provision of Air conditioning system is not recommended. This saves on operational cost of the overall installation. However during continuous operation there is heat generation from devices such as IGBT modules, transformers etc. This generated heat is forcefully taken out of the system to ensure effective cooling to the sensitive parts. This generated heat need to be dissipated from the room to the outside ambient. For this UPS room layout is suggested. Depending on the site construction, ambient temperature at site and allocated space for the UPS the ventilation arrangements are suggested. These included fixing of proper rated exhaust fans, cross ventilation methods etc. Battery is sensitive to the ambient temperature. Its performance deteriorates as the temperature goes high. There is generation of small amount of gasses which need to be exhausted out of the battery room. For this there are strict norms, which are insisted during the site preparation process. If the ambient temperature is higher than recommended and if SMF (Sealed Maintenance Free) batteries are in use, provision of Air-conditioning is mandatory.
